Most nations of the world are increasingly recognizing
the value of sustainable development to foster the growth of their economies.
Despite the potential huge investments required to roll out green technologies,
governments of advanced nations and developing countries are not cutting back
on the necessary funding required for their towering ambition of a green economy.
China remains at the top list position of global race for
renewable energy market. With an investment of about US $7.3b in 2009, China
aims at building a strong smart grid by 2020. The US stimulus funding of US
$4.5b is dedicated for a collaborative industry wide approach necessary to pool
existing technologies together to drive adoption of green innovations.
Significant renewable energy investments and initiatives are underway in most
emerging economies including India, Brazil… to advance green economy reality.
In the following are listed the "index" of renewable energy
sources of the top 10 green energy markets and their supporting infrastructures
based on the prevailing economic activities of the individual countries. For
instance, Brazil falls to tenth position in the index because of the withdrawal
of funding by the national development bank in respect of projects utilizing
turbines supplied by companies who have failed the bank’s local content
requirements.
